BMI calculator for women

Use the adult BMI calculator in metric or imperial units, with clear notes about pregnancy, menopause and what BMI does not measure.

Searching for an AI bmi calculator for women? This one uses a standard published formula, not an AI model, so you can see exactly how your number is made. See how BiteCal AI tracks meals against it.

Pregnancy-related weight changes should not be assessed with adult BMI. Menopause and other life stages can also affect body composition in ways this measure cannot capture. Adult BMI uses the same formula and category cut points regardless of sex.

BMI is a screening measure, not a diagnosis. It does not directly measure body fat, muscle mass, or fat distribution. It is not intended for pregnancy-related weight assessment.

Your result explained

Adult BMI is calculated the same way for women and men. This women-focused page uses the selected adult reference cutoffs; it does not apply different thresholds based on sex.

How it’s calculated

BMI = weight in kilograms ÷ height in metres squared. For imperial inputs the equivalent formula is 703 × weight in pounds ÷ height in inches squared. The displayed result is rounded to one decimal place; category logic uses the unrounded value.

Worked example: At 65 kg and 1.65 m, BMI = 65 ÷ 1.65² = 23.9. The value itself does not reveal body-fat distribution or identify a health condition.

Limits and accuracy

Pregnancy-related weight changes should not be interpreted with this calculator. Menopause and other life stages can affect body composition and health in ways BMI cannot represent. Discuss personal screening questions with a qualified clinician.
