BMI calculator for men
Calculate adult BMI using metric or imperial units and see how the result relates to population screening categories.
Searching for an AI bmi calculator for men? This one uses a standard published formula, not an AI model, so you can see exactly how your number is made. See how BiteCal AI tracks meals against it.

BMI cannot distinguish muscle from body fat. People with higher muscle mass may find that BMI does not reflect their body composition. Adult BMI uses the same formula and category cut points regardless of sex.
Reference weight range
53.5–<72.25 kg
Mathematical range at this height using the selected reference; the upper limit is exclusive.
Within this BMI reference range.
BMI is a screening measure, not a diagnosis. It does not directly measure body fat, muscle mass, or fat distribution. It is not intended for pregnancy-related weight assessment.
Your result explained
Adult BMI is calculated the same way for men and women. This page uses the same adult calculator and selectable reference cutoffs without inventing male-specific categories.
How it’s calculated
BMI = weight in kilograms ÷ height in metres squared. For imperial inputs the equivalent formula is 703 × weight in pounds ÷ height in inches squared. The displayed result is rounded to one decimal place; category logic uses the unrounded value.
Worked example: At 85 kg and 1.80 m, BMI = 85 ÷ 1.80² = 26.23, displayed as 26.2. A high BMI can reflect different combinations of muscle and fat, which BMI cannot distinguish.
Limits and accuracy
BMI does not measure muscle mass, body-fat distribution, or individual health. A muscular build can affect interpretation, but the tool cannot quantify body composition. Use screening alongside other clinical information.

| Reference | Normal-weight BMI | Overweight | Obesity |

Frequently asked questions
Is BMI different for men?
The standard adult BMI formula and category cutoffs are not sex-specific. This page does not apply a separate male threshold.
Can muscle affect BMI?
Yes. BMI uses weight and height, so greater muscle mass can raise the result. The calculation cannot tell muscle from fat.
What does BMI fail to show?
BMI does not directly measure body fat or its distribution and cannot diagnose a health condition.
Does BMI replace medical advice?
No. BMI is a population screening measure and cannot diagnose an individual health condition.
How is the healthy-weight range calculated?
The tool converts the selected reference BMI interval into kilograms for your height. It is a mathematical range, not a personal weight recommendation.
